lSpecial session on M2M Communications and Networking
Call for papers:
Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Communications and Networking enables a viable means for interconnecting of physical devices and ultimately
creates what is now recognised as Internet-of-Things (IoT). M2M covers a wide scope of technologies including sensing, communications, computing and control, which
together can build feasible complex cyber-physical systems to support diverse applications. Such 'smart' interconnections offer the potential solutions to the telecommunications
market, with new services and applications, such as e-healthcare, smart city, smart grid, intelligent transportation, remote sensing, and logistics. These applications and services demands
communication protocols that are different from the traditional communication protocols used in human-to-human networks. The diverse nature of these applications has opened a wide research area for future M2M communications,
including investigations on scalability, wide-area coverage, energy-efficiency, spectral-efficiency, heterogeneity, cooperation, and security. M2M communication standards have been actively developed in standard bodies
(e.g. ETSI TC M2M, 3GPP machine-type-communications, IEEE 802.16p, etc). The goal of this special session is to bring various state-of-the-art research activities in academia and industry together to present and debate advanced M2M communication systems, technologies,
and applications, with the perspective of current M2M-related standardization activities in 3GPP, ETSI, IEEE and IETF.
Topics of includes (but not limited to) the following issues related to M2M:
1).System architecture and components
2).Physical layer requirements for M2M communications
3).MAC layer requirements for M2M communications
4).Radio access technologies and protocols for M2M communications
5).Energy efficient M2M communications
6).Protocols for energy-harvesting M2M devices
7).Security issues for M2M
8).M2M channel and traffic modeling
9).Simulation platform and methodologies for M2M communications
10).Field Trials / Test-beds / Regulatory issues
11).M2M communications standards
12).Self-organisation and autonomous configuration for M2M
13).Networking support for cloud-based M2M systems
14).M2M Session and Mobility Management
15).M2M Performance Management
