英国工程技术学会（IET）系英国电气工程师学会（IEE）和英国企业工程师学会（IIE）于2006年初合并组建而成，现拥有15万多会员，遍布全球128个国家。IET涉及科技领域广泛，覆盖60个专业和多个新型交叉学科，其规模欧洲之最、全球第二的综合性专业科技学会。IET在国内数所高校建立了IET青年分会，并在校园内开展30余次科技讲座和互动专题座谈会以及大型学生课余校外活动。

英国工程技术学会国际奖学金（中国）是为支持与鼓励在英国本土以外，以IT、电气、电子或制造工程为专业的优秀学生会员而设立的，奖金总额为15000RMB。

对于2008年度的IET国际奖学金，IET北京分会采取了以审核网上申请资料作为初选,英方专家面试作为复试的方式对申请者进行评估和选拔。 从2008年3月份开始接受网上报名,12月份专家面试直到最后在一月份公布评选结果，整个过程紧张，公平而不失严谨。最终，北京邮电大学国际学院06级学生欧阳旭、吴灵修以及复旦大学的一名学生脱颖而出获此荣誉。

The Institution of Engineering and Technology was formed by the combination of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) and the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE) on 2006 and now has more than 150,000 members within 128 countries worldwide. It is the largest professional engineering society inEuropeand the second largest of its type in the world.

With IET Youth Member Sections’ gradually framing, the institution has experienced technical seminars and campus events. IET International Scholarships is awarded to outstanding students in any year of a degree course in I.T., electrical, electronic or manufacturing engineering inChina. There are 3 awards available and 5000 RMB for each inChina.

For the international scholarships of IET 2008, in order to give a reasonable and fair environment to process selection, the IET branch inBeijingadapted evaluating the application materials of the candidates from Internet as primary selection and interview hold by IET commissioner as retrial. Actually, the selections begins in March 2008 as the application online is available, through December when the interview is given by the IET expert commissioner and till January 2009 when the result is published. The process is full of intensity and preciseness. Ultimately, Xu OUYANG, Lingxiu Wu from BUPT international school and another student fromFudanUniversitysuccessfully win the awards.
